The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) has praised the signing of a landmark agreement introducing NOBIS, a locally developed electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) platform.

The initiative is a collaboration between the National Payment and Innovation Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NPIC-TT), the Unit Trust Corporation (UTC), and the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT).

AMCHAM T&T said the introduction of NOBIS promises to streamline on boarding processes, reduce compliance costs, and improve efficiency for businesses, while also enhancing transparency and service delivery within the public sector.

Chief Executive Officer Nirad Tewarie described the agreement as “a significant milestone in Trinidad and Tobago’s digital transformation journey,” adding that the platform would unlock new levels of accessibility, efficiency, and competitiveness for both government and private institutions.

Tewarie also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between public and private sectors, noting that NOBIS showcases the nation’s ability to deliver world-class, homegrown digital solutions.

AMCHAM T&T said it looks forward to the platform’s swift rollout and widespread regional adoption.
