Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, is calling for national unity and an end to extremism as she urges citizens to preserve peace.
Speaking during a visit to the General Cemetery of the South in Caracas, Rodríguez said dialogue, tolerance and coexistence must guide the country’s future.
She also inaugurated community upgrades, including road access for residents and restoration works at the historic site.
The acting president paid tribute to national figures buried there and stressed that community-driven projects remain key to building stability and long-term peace.
The General Cemetery of the South in Caracas (Cementerio General del Sur), founded in 1876 by President Antonio Guzmán Blanco, is a historic 240-hectare site serving as a resting place for notable Venezuelan figures.
Known for its impressive 19th-century marble mausoleums, it is currently undergoing rehabilitation while hosting guided tours that explore its rich history and sculpture.
The cemetery marks its 150th anniversary in 2026.
