44 undocumented immigrants have been held in Princes Town.
Between 6pm and 11:30pm on Saturday, police went to a premises in Malgretoute Village, which was reportedly being used for illegal gambling activities, including cockfighting.
A large number of individuals attempted to flee, with some persons jumping from the building’s second floor.
Despite this, several individuals were detained, including the 44 foreign nationals, who are now being held pending further immigration enquiries.
50 T&T nationals were also detained, however the TTPS says they were later released after their documents were verified.
One male foreign national was injured while attempting to escape – he is currently warded under police guard and assisting officers with their investigations into alleged possession of forged documents.
