Over 300 people have been detained under the current State of Emergency (SOE).
In Parliament today, the Prime Minister told the house that 373 persons have been held so far, based on information from the Ministry of Homeland Security.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was responding to a question from the Opposition during Prime Minister’s Questions.
The current SOE was declared on March 2nd, 2026.
The Government of Trinidad and Tobago explained the decision was due to a spike in violent criminal activity, mainly carried out by members of organized criminal gangs
