The distribution of government-issued laptops to students who sat the 2025 SEA exam is now complete.
The Ministry of Education confirms that the final batch of devices was handed over to students yesterday.
While 17,487 students were placed into secondary schools last year, a total of 17,188 laptops were distributed.
The Ministry explains that the difference of 299 students accounts for those who are repeating SEA or who chose to attend private secondary schools.
Laptops were issued to students attending government and government-assisted secondary schools, as well as 10 private institutions and 10 Junior Life Centres.
Education Minister Dr. Michael Dowlath described the initiative as an investment in the nation’s future, noting that access to technology is no longer a luxury in education.
