2 persons with T&T roots receive Grammy awards for their work

Jolene Mendes Kwame Ryan

Trinidad and Tobago-born producer Jolene Mendes has been awarded a Grammy for her work on the music video for Doechii’s hit single, “Anxiety”.

Ms Mendes accepted the trophy for Best Music Video at last night’s awards ceremony.

Speaking during this time, she thanked those who worked on the shoot, adding that it was an experience to work with such “once in a lifetime talents”.

Also receiving a Grammy was music conductor Kwamé Ryan, won the award for Best Opera Recording for the Houston Grand Opera production of composer Jake Heggie’s “Intelligence.”

Ryan, the son of Professor Selwyn Ryan, grew up in Trinidad and now serves as music director for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.
