A suspect arrested following a high-speed chase in Couva has been denied bail on charges of home invasion.

Ezekiel Braithwaite appeared in court yesterday, charged with five counts of robbery with violence, dangerous driving and using false plates.

He was fined $15,000 and remanded to prison.

Braithwaite’s arrest followed an incident on September 7th, 2023 in Balmain during which five people were tied up by five bandits who stole cash, phones and other personal items.

Police arrested one suspect after a high-speed chase along the Balmain Main Road.

The TTPS says officers are pursuing leads that can lead to the arrest of the other four suspects in the case.
