Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles-Robinson is calling on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to provide evidence for claims her meeting with Venezuela’s ambassador supported a “narco government.”
During an Opposition media briefing yesterday, Mrs Beckles-Robinson said the October 30th meeting was a 15-minute courtesy call following a formal letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She added that it had nothing to do with Venezuela’s National Assembly declaring Persad-Bissessar persona non grata, calling the Prime Minister’s criticism reckless and misleading.
The Opposition Leader reaffirmed that the PNM remains committed to the Caribbean as a zone of peace, noting that the government itself plans to appoint an envoy to Venezuela.
