The Met Office says a wetter-than-usual start to the 2026 Dry Season has eased drought concerns across the country.

Near- to above-normal rainfall from December through January has brought relief, particularly to southwestern Tobago.

By the end of January, drought conditions in Tobago improved from a Drought Watch to no concern, while conditions in Trinidad shifted from dry to no concern.

Looking ahead to the February to April period, the Met Service says there is no indication of abnormal dryness or drought, with little to no concern expected in the mid to long-term.
