US President Donald Trump says Venezuela “will be turning over” up to 50 million barrels of oil to the US.
Posting on social media, Mr Trump said the oil will be sold at its market price, with the money to be controlled by him as US President.
He adds that it will be used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the US.
It comes after a military operation to remove President Nicolás Maduro from power.
Mr Maduro has been brought to the US to face drug-trafficking and weapons charges
Delcy Rodríguez, formerly Venezuela’s vice-president, has since been sworn in as its interim president.
