Government intends to reopen the UWI South Campus in Debe/Penal in time for the start of the new academic year.
Land and Legal Affairs Minister Saddam Hosein said a formal Memorandum of Agreement was signed on 15 January to outline responsibilities for reopening and Operationalizing the campus.
In addition, government officials conducted a site visit on 19 January to ensure progress and proper planning.
He said government has conducted a facilities condition assessment to determine what repairs and upgrades were needed to determine what repairs and upgrades were needed to make the campus functional.
Mr Hosein said the tendering process for necessary works is ongoing and steps have been taken to expedite repairs and upgrades.
