The US Embassy has donated almost US$77,000 in canine equipment and training supplies to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service.
In addition to this was the commissioning of a new whelping facility and two canine transport vehicles.
The Embassy said this aims to strengthen the Prison Service’s working dog program, which helps officers detect narcotics, firearms, ammunition, and other contraband in correctional facilities and national exercises.
The US Chargé d’Affaires added that donation highlights ongoing cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago law enforcement to disrupt narcotrafficking and enhance regional security.
