The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association is calling on the Minister of Education to urgently address what it describes as a crisis affecting teachers’ access to mental health support.
In a media release, TTUTA says the Ministry owes more than two million dollars for Employee Assistance Programme services, resulting in educators being denied critical counselling and support.
General Secretary Sue-Anne Marchan says teachers are already facing mounting pressures in and out of the classroom, and the continued delay in restoring EAP services reflects a lack of urgency.
The Association is demanding immediate action, insisting that teachers deserve meaningful support, not prolonged neglect.
