The Transport Ministry is dismissing claims that drivers under the age of 25 face a $10,000 fine for not completing a defensive driving course.
In a statement issued today, it says there is no law making defensive driving mandatory for obtaining or maintaining insurance.
It also clarifies that while some insurance companies offer incentives for such courses, it is not a statutory requirement for young drivers.
The Ministry is urging the public to disregard unofficial reports and rely solely on verified government communication channels.
