A joint overnight raid at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca has led to the seizure of several cell phones and uncovering of key intelligence.
Led by Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, the multi-agency operation was carried out between 7 and 11 PM yesterday, in direct response to a voice-note threatening senior law enforcement officials.
During cell searches, officers recovered mobile devices, cannabis, cigarette packets, and handwritten notes which are now under investigation.
Just yesterday, the Top Cop said there was credible intelligence indicating increased threats to both police and prison officers.
He added then that protective protocols are being strengthened, and targeted countermeasures implemented to neutralize any emerging threats.
