Selwyn John of Rio Claro is the new “King of the Rock” after capturing the title at the NCC National Stick Fighting Competition 2026.
John emerged victorious on Monday night in Moruga, defeating all challengers in front of a packed crowd, including his nephew Anderson Marcano in the final.
He also beat crowd favourite Oniel Odle in a bruising semifinal bout.
John secured double honours on the night, as his team, Rio Claro Gayelle, won the 3-on-3 Gayelle title.
The NCC says the final capped off a successful stick fighting season, following events in Moruga, Debe Junction, Tunapuna, Mayaro and Sangre Grande.
