Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the 15-man squad for the upcoming five-match T20 International series against New Zealand, set for November 5–13.
The Men in Maroon depart for New Zealand on November 1 following their recent T20 series win over Bangladesh. The tour forms part of the team’s continued preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, with the core group of players retained from the previous series.
Matthew Forde makes his return to the side after recovering from a shoulder injury and completing rehabilitation protocols. He is joined by Shamar Springer, brought in to strengthen a seam bowling department hit by injuries to Ramon Simmons and Jediah Blades, both ruled out of this series.
Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie has been omitted following a recent dip in form linked to a technical issue with his action. With New Zealand conditions less favourable to spin, Motie will work with specialists through the Royals Sports Group—owners of the Paarl Royals franchise in South Africa—to address his technique and rebuild confidence before December’s SA20 tournament, ahead of the T20 World Cup.
CWI also announced a key addition to the team’s management staff with Clinical Psychologist Krisnan Hurdle joining as Mental Skills and Performance Coach, beginning with this tour.
Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe said the appointment reflects CWI’s focus on holistic player development:
“The addition of a Mental Skills and Performance Coach reflects our commitment to developing the complete cricketer. At the elite level, success is as much about mindset and composure as it is about technical ability. Strengthening this area ensures that our players are provided with the necessary non-technical support to manage pressure and maintain focus.”
