Sport Minister Phillip Watts has pledged to upgrade national and community sporting facilities for athletes and persons with disabilities.
In his maiden Parliamentary speech, he said accessibility is not an after-thought, and unveiled plans to improve ramps, accessible seating, restrooms, and compliant transportation infrastructure.
He said there will also be tighter fiscal oversight at the Ministry, with expenditure to be measured for value and long term impact, to ensure better implementation of projects and programmes.
This will be followed by enhanced procurement controls across all projects, including pre-tender audits, real-time monitoring and strict variation protocols.
The Minister also affirmed his commitment to develop sport tourism in Tobago, saying the sister isle will be a full partner in the national sport development agenda.
