Republic Bank has slashed its maximum credit card spending limit for US dollars in half, effective August 21st, 2025.
Currently, the bank’s credit card customers are able to spend up to US$5000 or up to their limit, if less than that amount. This policy has been in place at RBL since September 2023.
But, the bank’s new policy, communicated to customers today, states that the limit per billing cycle will be $2500.
This change includes all transactions conducted outside of T&T as well as all international online transactions, including where the chosen billing currency is TT dollars. For example, on Amazon.com, if a user chooses the option to pay in TTD instead of USD, this spend will count towards the Republic Bank credit card’s US dollar spend for the month.
All local TT dollar transactions conducted online or at merchants remain unaffected.
