US President Donald Trump has hinted of plans to speak directly with Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro.
Al Jazeera News reported that Mr Trump told his advisors yesterday, however no specific date for the talks was given.
This comes a day after the US officially designated the alleged Venezuelan gang Cartel de los Soles as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation, saying it is backed by senior Venezuelan officials.
Meanwhile, President Maduro said last week he is ready to meet with US representatives, accusing Washington of trying to incite conflict in the region to seize control of Venezuela’s oil reserves.
