US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order which classifies fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction.
He made the announcement at the White House earlier today.
In a post via X, the White House said this critical step will serves as an approach to combat the cartels and foreign networks responsible for flooding communities with the drug.
It added that this declaration unlocks all available resources to address the growing crisis, as fentanyl has become the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18 to 45.
