The Government has welcomed the issuance of U.S. General Licenses 49 and 50 by the US, which establish a legal framework under U.S. law for certain oil and gas activities in Venezuela and along the shared maritime border.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the development is an important opportunity to deepen energy cooperation with the United States, strengthen regional stability and reinforce commercial ties.
She expressed optimism about enhancing T&T’s role as a responsible energy hub in the Caribbean while supporting domestic industry, safeguarding jobs, and contributing to reliable regional energy supply chains.
The government underscored that any activity will proceed in full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
