Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says Trinidad and Tobago is not involved in the US blockade of sanctioned Venezuelan oil tankers.
She made the statement today, following a funeral service for the late Daphne Phillip.
According to the PM, the nation’s focus remains on its own interests.
The Prime Minister’s comments follow recent developments in the increasingly tense situation between the US and Venezuela.
Last evening, US President Donald Trump ordered “a total and complete” blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela.
The move has been denounced by Caracas as “warmongering threats”.
