Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar insists the Government has no intention of removing police officers from schools.

Instead, she says there are plans to expand the school oriented policing initiative.

In a post on social media, the PM says she received messages over the weekend from concerned parents regarding the programme, which sees the deployment of officers at certain schools.

She accused the PNM of “advocating against the TTPS protecting our innocent students from being bullied, beaten, emotionally traumatized, and sexually assaulted.”

Mrs Persad-Bissessar added, “The Government plans to expand this initiative in the coming months to ensure peace and stability within our education system.”

She also insisted that it was her duty to support and protect all students regardless of “which constituency they attend school in.”
