Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced an immediate ban on all fetes at the Hasley Crawford Stadium and the Jean Pierre Complex.
In a social media post this morning, she said both the Attorney General and the Sport Minister were instructed on Monday to enforce the directive.
Exceptions will be granted only for events held from the Thursday before Carnival Monday and Tuesday through to the Saturday after.
She also stated that any events booked at Sport Ministry facilities must begin no earlier than 12 noon and must end promptly at 10PM.
As part of the Government’s ongoing crackdown on noise pollution, the Prime Minister has directed the National Carnival Commission to ensure that noise from events is effectively minimized for surrounding communities.
This announcement follows last week’s decision to stop all fetes at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, amid growing concerns that noise pollution and its impacts in the surrounding communities.
