Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says noise pollution is the main reason for her instruction to stop all fetes at the Brian Lara Stadium.
In a post via X this morning, the Prime Minister said it is part of the Government’s plan to address the noise issue which has had what she called negative impacts on communities.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar also said the Fireworks Legislation will be passed before the year’s end, in addition to enhanced noise pollution laws.
This will regulate designated quiet hours, as well as add new restrictions on fetes, music trucks, residential parties, and bars.
The T&T Express reported today that fetes at the Brian Lara Stadium have been banned with immediate effect.
According to the article, UDeCoTT’s Chairman said the ban was implemented as the events have caused significant wear and tear to the facility.
