Opposition MP Marvin Gonzales claims government hired over 400 employees at WASA, costing taxpayers more than $60 million.
The allegation was made at a PNM media conference yesterday.
The former Public Utilities Minister said this contradicts government’s claims that its WASA transformation plan would reduce expenditure.
Public Utilities Minister Barry Padarath has since responded.
According to the T&T Express, he said 426 employees were hired to fill critical vacancies at the Authority.
He also dismissed the claim that they were hired in secret and without proper process.
