NWRHA rejects claims of suppression of babies’ medical records

The NWRHA is denying claims that there have been extensive delays and suppression in responding to requests for medical records of 16 babies who died at the Port of Spain General Hospital.

In a media release, the authority says the lawyers representing several of the babies’ parents have raised concerns, claiming one of the delays has been for over 57 days.

However, the NWRHA says contrary to reports, no requests had been made for the medical records of the 16 babies to the NWRHA before April 12th, 2024 from either patients/parents or attorneys.

It notes that the first request came in on April 12th, followed by subsequent requests and the NWRHA claims the lawyers’ chambers confirmed receipt of 11 records on April 24th, 2024.

The authority is rejecting any insinuation of manipulation or intentional delay in providing the babies’ medical records.
