Three young girls have drowned in a pond in Massara Village, Region Nine.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday.

The girls have been identified as 6-year-old Nia Jeffreys, 5-year-old Michele Jeffreys, 9-year-old Alicia Dorrick.

Michele and Nia were sisters, while Alicia was their cousin.

According to News Room Guyana, the pond was dug several years ago to help residents during the dry season.
