The National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago says the ruins of the Cedar Grove Copra Factory in Palmiste is being assessed and documented.
In a statement on Sunday, the organization said they had identified key threats to the historical site, including structural deterioration, vegetation overgrowth, and root system impact on masonry.
During a recent site visit supported by the Palmiste Historical Society, the National Trust says its ongoing work supports future protection efforts.
It said its groundwork is essential to determining the safest and most effective path forward in protecting the site, which dates back to the late 18th century.
