The Health Ministry says it has received 75,000 doses of the (2023/2024) influenza vaccine.

It adds that these will be available, free of charge at all Health Centres, from tomorrow (October 5th).

The Ministry says it is a quadrivalent vaccine, meaning it contains four strains of the Influenza Virus:

• Influenza A (H1N1)
• Influenza A (H3N2)
• Influenza B (Austria) – Victoria Lineage
• Influenza B (Phuket) – Yamagata Lineage

Eligible persons are urged to get vaccinated, including children aged 6 months to 5 years, adults 60 years and older, healthcare workers, pregnant women, persons with compromised immune systems, persons with chronic respiratory illnesses and persons suffering from NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.

The influenza season runs from October 2023 to May 2024.
