Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander says he will recommend banning the Stink + Dutty fete from Chaguaramas, following gridlock and safety concerns at Saturday’s event.
The fete drew over 17,000 patrons, causing traffic chaos, business closures, and multiple accidents along the peninsula.
Alexander told the Trinidad Express that more than 100 police officers, supported by the Defence Force, were deployed, but the plan was overwhelmed by the sheer number of attendees and limited access routes.
He added that while no one was seriously hurt, future events of this scale will need a different venue.
