Senator Ravi Ratiram, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, joined by Mayaro MP Nicholas Morris, met with farmers and fisherfolk across the Mayaro Constituency on Saturday 7 February.
The outreach visited communities including Kernaham, Radix Point, La Brea Village, and Guayaguayare, with guided tours of the Guayaguayare and Ortoire Fish Landing Facilities.
Discussions focused on priority issues affecting the sector, including land tenure, farmer registration, access to incentives, agricultural roads, praedial larceny, infrastructure, and security.
Minister Ratiram emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders to address persistent challenges and expand support for farmers and fisherfolk.
The event also included key officials such as NAMDEVCO CEO Nirmala Debysingh, Praedial Larceny Squad officers, Agricultural Development Bank deputy chair Delaverne Louison, MRCRC Chairman Raymond Cozier, and councillors Renelle Achong and Shaffik Mohammed.
Participants were encouraged to raise concerns and propose solutions to improve productivity and sustainability.
