Colombia’s President has urged T&T to search for the remains of those on board a vessel targeted last week by the US Navy.

The US claimed the vessel was transporting drugs, and its action has been backed by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

However, President Gustavo Petro has voiced concern.

In a post on X, he referred to the boat as being a “civilian vessel” adding “we do not know if it was carrying drugs, and if it was, it should not have been bombed.”

His comments came as he shared an article in which Tobago fisherman expressed concern over the incident and called for a response from the THA.

The Colombian President is among those who criticized the move to kill the suspected traffickers instead of capturing them.
