Roston Chase says it was his dream to play for the West Indies and he has always given his all for the team.
The West Indies captain, speaking before the start of the 2nd test against India in Delhi, said it was always his dream to wear the maroon cap and put it before franchise cricket.
“It was always my dream to play for West Indies. I had the chance to play franchise cricket and I still have opportunities to play franchise cricket. But I have given that up,” Chase said at a media conference in Delhi.
“I gave up my chance to play franchise cricket and I have taken up the captaincy role, which is a big step.”
Earlier this week, cricket legend Brian Lara questioned the passion Chase and his players have shown when representing the West Indies.
West Indies lost the opening Test in Ahmedabad by an innings and 140 runs.
The second Test begins at midnight Eastern Caribbean Time.
