The government will amend Section 82 traffic laws to introduce mandatory fixed-penalty warnings for 18 specific traffic offences.
Transport Minister Eli Zakour said the offences include missing identification lights, taxi markings not displayed, excessive exhaust noise, and unauthorized lights.
Under the proposed news system, motorists will receive a warning notice with a grace period of three or seven working days to correct an issue.
Once the defect is fixed, they must present the vehicle at any police station or licensing office, where they will receive a receipt cancelling the warning.
Failure to report within the allotted time will see the warning automatically converted to a fixed-penalty fine.
Minister Zakour said motorists have received over 22,000 fixed-warning penalties during the past two years.
