The Steelpan Manufacturers Association of Trinidad and Tobago was launched on Wednesday; a move government officials say will turn the steelpan industry into a “structured global industry.”
Dr Colin Gosine, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Trade, said the steelpan industry has been fragmented for too long.
He said the creation of the Steelpan manufacturers Association will add unity and structure to ensure the true global potential of the industry is realized.
Dr Gosine said government aims to position this country as a global steelpan hub through standardization, certification, innovation, and export promotion.
