Successful drilling in the onshore Central Block, by Touchstone Trinidad, is being hailed as a major boost for the country’s energy sector.
The Energy Ministry has welcomed the drilling of the Carapal Ridge-3 Development Well, the first drilled in the onshore Central Block since 2006.
The well encountered gas-bearing Herrera sands and also discovered gas-charged Karamat sands, now being evaluated as a standalone prospect for potential development.
Touchstone says the drilling follows its evaluation of remaining resources after acquiring the Central Block in May 2025, supporting Government’s aim to bring much-needed natural gas to market.
