Gary Griffith has criticized Minister Roger Alexander for dismissing social media as a valid source of information.

This, after the Minister claimed the public has “no right to listen to or take note” of online content.

In a Facebook post, the former National Security Minister called the comments “misguided,” and emphasized that leadership should not only focus on reducing crime statistics but also on easing public fear.

Mr Griffith explained that the recent public fear was fueled by real events, including Defence Force activity and reports of a potential U.S. military strike on Venezuela.

He added that social media plays a crucial role in how citizens receive information today and that the Government must provide timely, clear communication to address concerns.
