The National Chutney Foundation says a lack of funding has delayed the distribution of prizes for the Schools Intellectual Chutney Soca Monarch competition.

An official from the National Chutney Foundation told 103.1FM News that in 2000, an annual subvention of $2.5million was approved by Prime Minister Patrick Manning.

However to date, it says no monies have been received.

103.1FM News understands that while the Foundation receives corporate sponsorship, the Education Ministry lends financial assistance, which would usually be used to cover prizes.

A recent social media post by Katelin Sultan’s mother/manager stated that she has not yet received her winnings for the 2024 and 2025 competitions.
