Former WI spinner Raphick Jumadeen has passed away

Former West Indies cricketer Raphick Jumadeen has passed away.

According to a Facebook post by Pointe-a-Pierre MP David Lee, Jumadeen was a true son of the soil of Marabella.

The spinner is known for his economical plying of his trade, going at an economy rate of just 2.18 across 12 Tests.

He ended his West Indies career with 29 wickets from those 12 matches at an average of 39.34 – he also managed a Test 50 with the bat.

In 2017, he was one of a number persons inducted into the NCIC’s Hall of Pioneers alongside former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday.

Since the news of his passing broke, condolences have poured in online.
