Former TTPS Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs Passes Away in Australia

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is mourning the passing of former Commissioner of Police, Dwayne Gibbs.

Commissioner Allister Guevarro confirmed that Mr. Gibbs, a Canadian national, died in Australia on October 16th following a medical emergency during the Age Group Standard Aquabike Championships in Wollongong.

Gibbs served as Trinidad and Tobago’s top cop from 2010 to 2012, bringing decades of experience from the Edmonton Police Service.

He was credited with introducing modern policing reforms and promoting professionalism within the TTPS.

Commissioner Guevarro described Gibbs as a man of integrity, discipline, and ethical leadership.

He extended condolences to Gibbs’ family, friends, and colleagues in both Canada and Trinidad and Tobago.

Mr. Gibbs was 70 years old.
