From tomorrow, setting off fireworks without a police permit will be a ticketable offence under the Summary Offences (Fireworks) Regulations.

The Office of the Attorney General announced that effective December 19th, a permit is needed from the Police Commissioner, except on public holidays from 8 to 9PM and on December 31st from 11:30PM to 12:30PM.

Fireworks are also banned within half a mile of hospitals, airports, zoos, animal shelters, farms, forest reserves, and national parks.

Applications for permits and details on fines will be included in the regulations, which will be signed by the Homeland Security Minister and published in the Gazette tomorrow.
