The mother of Stacy Samaroo, whose body was discovered floating off Blenheim, says she is struggling to come to terms with her daughter’s death.
Vashti Samaroo described remaining in shock after the family formally identified the body.
Stacy, a mother of one from Golconda, San Fernando, had travelled to Tobago seeking treatment for an old eye injury.
Police reported that the partially decomposed body was found around 3 p.m. Tuesday along Windward Road in Mt St George after residents alerted officers to a body drifting offshore.
It was later brought to shore at Blenheim Bay.
Investigators say the victim was nude with a rope tightly wound around her neck.
Identification was confirmed through distinctive tattoos, including the name of her daughter, Shiloh.
An autopsy is expected to determine the exact cause of death as police continue questioning persons of interest in connection with the case.
