The Employers’ Consultative Association is representing Trinidad and Tobago at the ILO’s Global Conference on Child Labour in Marrakesh.

CEO Ronald Ramlogan highlighted the country’s education and child protection efforts to prevent exploitation.

He told the conference that early prevention strategies are key in minimizing child labour.

“If early prevention is successful then it prevents young people from getting into informal or hazardous economic activity, and that may later become ingrained in them,” Ramlogan said.

“We lose that educated, trained workforce. So, recognizing those patterns early on has been very successful for us.”

The International Labour Organisation’s (ILO’s) 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour, was held in Marrakech, Morocco, from 11–13 February 2026.
