Bollywood’s legendary actor Dharmendra, lovingly called the ‘He-Man’ of Indian cinema, has died at the age of 89.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the actor on social media, saying his passing “marks the end of an era in Indian cinema”.

The actor, who would have turned 90 on December 8th, had been in and out of south Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital reportedly for respiratory issues, according to local reports.

These include “Sholay,” “Seeta Aur Geeta,” “Phool Aur Patthar,” “Satyakam,” “Chupke Chupke,” “Yaadon Ki Baaraat,” “Loafer,” “Blackmail” and “Jugnu.”
