Defence Minister Wayne Sturge says T&T’s airspace remains fully open and operational.
And he is urging persons to disregard what he says is misinformation being disseminated on social media.
In a statement, he notes the sharing of an excerpt from a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) Bulletin.
According to Mr Sturge, NOTAM A0010/26 is a routine security advisory issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration and applies exclusively to U.S. registered aircraft operators.
He adds that such advisories are a standard practice among sovereign states and do not constitute an assessment of the local airspace safety.
Instead, he says the Piarco Flight Information Region and all airports continue to accommodate normal commercial and private aviation traffic.
He adds that T&T’s aviation and security authorities continue to monitor the Piarco Flight Information Region in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization standards, ensuring the continued safety and security of all air traffic.
