147 unsponsored steel-bands today received cheques totaling $2.3 million at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Pan Trinbago.
Conventional steel-bands received $20,000grants each, while single pan bands received $10,000.
The Ministry says the support is part of its ongoing commitment to sustaining the steelband movement and ensuring wider participation in the national instrument.
Meanwhile, the Panorama Medium Conventional Bands Finals take place this evening at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
