The Central Statistical Office (CSO) says inflation went down during October, a 1% decrease from the previous period.

The CSO said that this decrease was driven by a general downward movement in the prices of vegetables like Irish potatoes, pumpkin, pimento, hot peppers, and other items like table margarine.

However, it added that prices increased in items like frozen whole chickens, fresh whole chicken, fresh king fish and others.

The CSO further said that sub-indices for clothing and footwear, home ownership, and transport went down, while those for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, hotels, cafes and restaurants went up.
