Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has expressed deep sorrow over the murder of Councillor Romona Victor, who was killed at her home yesterday.
In a statement posted on X, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar described Victor as a dedicated and compassionate public servant who represented Siparia East and San Francique South.
She said Ms Victor’s commitment to community upliftment left a lasting impact, and her loss created a “profound void” within the Borough Corporation and the wider community.
Offering condolences to Victor’s family and colleagues, the Prime Minister also stressed the importance of reaching out for help and supporting those facing quiet personal struggles, ensuring they feel safe to come forward without fear.
